Add-in Classes and Team Sports
Add-in Classes for IVs-XIIIs. Add-ins are enrichment classes that run for an entire session. In addition to cherished returning favorites like Capoeira, Yoga, Chess, and Cooking, there are impressive new Add-in choices lined up for our spring term. Unless noted, Add-in Classes begin in January. Registration for Add-ins begins Tuesday, March 3, and takes place in Afterschool HQ.

Team Sports for Xs-XIIIs. C&C sponsors interscholastic team sports for our older students, with our spring offerings being Girls/NB Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee, Futsal, Flag Football, and Running club. There is no cost to be on a C&C sports team, but a 75% participation commitment is required. Please direct all Team Sports questions to Todd Rosenthal.
Add-ins and Team Sports require ongoing participation commitments. Offerings with an asterisk (*) are free of charge to participate.

Capoeira is a martial art disguised as dance, developed by African slaves in Brazil as a form of resistance and expression. Today, it blends movement, rhythm, and play in a joyful, music-filled circle. Students will learn capoeira’s basic movements, play partner sequences (non-contact), and explore its rich cultural history. Guided by the principles of Focus, Discipline, and Respect (FDR), this class fosters fitness, leadership, and community. In this hands-on class, students work with Katie to sketch, cut, assemble, and refine their own one-of-a-kind creations—from vehicles and cutouts to imaginative, unexpected inventions. In this hands-on class led by Margot Lippman, students will learn foundational fiber arts skills, including simple sewing, to design and create their own pieces—starting with a pillow or a bag. We'll also explore weaving and design techniques. Community Roots is a student-led service learning group that takes action on real issues facing our school and neighborhood. Each Monday, students come together to identify community needs and lead projects that make a difference—from urban gardening and recycling to supporting local housing, food, and health initiatives. It’s hands-on, heart-first learning that grows civic responsibility and strengthens our ties to the world around us. There is no cost to participate on this team. |

Debate Tournament Prep, facilitated by Dedimus Postestatem, focuses on preparing the C&C Debate Team for city-wide tournaments. Students will train together and compete in tournaments with other New York City middle schools through the New York Debate League. If your student has NOT participated in the league before, please email Natalie to confirm eligibility to join this section. Those that participated in our Tuesday Debate class will be invited individually to compete in the C&C Debate Team. There is no cost to participate on this team. |

In this open studio class taught by Private Picassos, students explore 2D and 3D materials—clay, paint, collage, printmaking, and more—using them alone or in combination. Take your game design skills to the next level in this culminating course for advanced coders! Newcomers and coding veterans will delve deeper into the mechanics of game development, exploring complex programming techniques to create immersive player experiences. Coders will harness powerful tools to develop multiplayer games, integrate AI-driven opponents, and add dynamic environmental effects. This course will also guide students through the process of publishing their games, complete with unique branding and polished user interfaces. Lhakpa Gurung will lead children in yoga poses, breathing, games, and storytelling to explore the balance between movement and stillness. This class builds strength, flexibility, focus, and mindfulness while fostering positive thinking, self-awareness, and a strong sense of calm. In this immersive Spanish playgroup, children learn through songs, stories, puppets, and art. In Chess I, students learn and practice the fundamentals of chess in a fun and engaging environment. Each child is placed in a group that matches their skill level, and those continuing from earlier sessions remain in their current sections. Join us for a 3v3 basketball clinic. Teams will compete in tournaments each week and learn basketball fundamentals. Open to all Genders and Skill Levels in the age group. Cost for the spring session: $755. |

We offer coverage before and after school for families who need childcare on a drop-in basis, and for students who want more time at school.

Before SchoolIVs-VIIs have the option to gather in the Library to enjoy books, games, and arts and crafts starting at 8:00 a.m. At 8:40 a.m., they will be brought to their Group classrooms by the early morning drop-off teacher. When you arrive at school in the morning, please bring your child to the Library on the first floor of the 13th Street Building. The cost is $20/session. After SchoolNEW for 2025-26! Extended afternoon for three-year olds and IIIs runs each day until 5:00 p.m. and offers a warm and nurturing after-school time with yard, art, and other activities. This program is only available for IIs and IIIs enrolled in our full-day program; IIs who turn three during the year are welcome to participate starting on their third birthday. Children may attend on a day-by-day basis, Monday-Friday. The cost is $75/session. Extended afternoon for IVs-VIIs runs each day until 5:45 p.m. and offers a warm and nurturing after-school time with yard play and indoor activities such as art, playing games, and sharing stories. As with Early Morning Drop Off, extended afternoon is something your child may attend on a day-by-day basis. The cost is $40/session. These programs begin the first full day of class and are available Monday-Friday. |
| Middle and Upper School (VIIIs-XIIIs) |
Before School*To start their day early, VIIIs-Xs can join a program at any point from 8:00 until 8:30 a.m. Morning programs begin in the Yard and Library. Students have the option to attend math practice and math extension. Upon arrival, children sign in at the Front Desk and go directly to the appropriate location. This offering is free of charge, runs M-F, and begins the first day of class. After SchoolExtended afternoon for VIIIs+ runs each day until 5:45 p.m. for our older students as well, directly following Flex and Add-In Classes. Extended is something your child may attend on a day-by-day basis. The cost is $40/session, runs M-F, and begins the first day of class. |
Flex
Flex is a long-standing tradition for students, VIIIs-XIIIs, to complete, continue, or get assistance with their school work and projects, or play a game in Yard. The program is available each weekday except Wednesday and is free for all who participate. This program starts on Monday, September 8. If your child stays for Flex then they must remain for the entire period until the 4:00 p.m. dismissal.
Music Lessons
Students in Vs and older are eligible to take private lessons in piano, violin, viola, guitar, ukulele, and drums. To learn more or to schedule lessons, please contact Music Department Coordinator James Yoon at JamesY@cityandcoutry.org.
For Families on Financial Aid
City and Country offers support for families receiving financial aid.
For the drop-in programs:
- Mornings: Financial aid applies at the same rate as tuition-related FA, up to a 75% maximum. Minimum cost: $5.
- Afternoon: Financial aid applies at the same rate as tuition-related FA, up to a 75% maximum. Minimum cost: $10.
For the after-school programs :
