Dear C&C Community and Friends,

Welcome to City and Country School! It is an honor to lead this vibrant community and share what makes C&C truly unique.

Our school was founded by Caroline Pratt - a revolutionary in the world of progressive education. Pratt was an essential player in the establishment of the Progressive Education Movement here in NYC, and since our founding in 1914, C&C has inspired the founding of other schools and programs across the country and around the world.

At C&C, we believe in the fundamental importance of authentic learning experiences. Our curriculum fosters exploration, creativity, and learning from both failure and success, instilling a love for hard work and responsibility. From the earliest ages, we support research in all its forms, using trips and jobs as essential hands-on learning tools. As children’s worlds expand and their quest for information grows, they cultivate important academic skills. Students buzz around campus, enthusiastically pursuing knowledge. Here, you’ll never hear, “Why am I learning this?”

Collaboration and mutual respect are core values lived at City and Country and we strive to create an environment where every child feels seen, valued, and heard. Through a strong parent-teacher partnership, we ensure each child's academic and social emotional growth and development. By celebrating diverse perspectives and fostering an inclusive culture, we prepare our students to succeed in a diverse world and become thoughtful, socially responsible people.
